FAQ

What is projection mapping?

Projection mapping is a technique that uses projectors to turn irregularly shaped objects and surfaces — buildings, stages, sculptures, or custom structures — into dynamic video displays. Software precisely aligns video content to the geometry of the surface, so the imagery wraps around corners, follows contours, and creates the illusion of movement, transformation, or depth on a physical object.

What are volumetric LED displays?

Volumetric LED displays use individually addressable LED pixel strands (voxels) arranged in three-dimensional space to create content that has real physical depth. Unlike flat LED walls, volumetric displays allow audiences to see imagery from multiple angles and perceive true 3D form without glasses or screens. They are used for live concert stages, architectural installations, retail activations, and trade show centerpieces. We provide both rentals, consultation and content creation.

What industries does Immerse Studio work with?

We work across live entertainment (concert tours, festivals, DJ stages), brand activations (product launches, experiential marketing), corporate events (trade shows, conferences), cultural institutions (museums, galleries, public art), film and television (set design, on-camera effects), and architectural installations (permanent and temporary building-scale displays).

Where is Immerse Studio located?

Immerse Studio is based in Venice, Los Angeles, California. As we provide highly specialized services, we work on projects nationwide and internationally.

What software and tools does Immerse Studio use?

Our primary tools include TouchDesigner for real-time interactive content, Aurion (a real-time shader engine created by our co-founder Tommy Etkin), Resolume for live VJ performance, and custom created software solutions built for specific project needs. We also work with industry-standard 3D modeling, animation, and video production tools. We are projectionists, video engineers, production managers, digital artists and programmers.

What is RayTK?

RayTK is a real-time ray-marching shader toolkit for TouchDesigner, created by Immerse Studio co-founder Tommy Etkin. It enables the creation of complex volumetric and interactive visual content in real time, and is used both by our studio and by a growing community of visual artists worldwide. After a lot of demand and market research, we are now working on a new version, Aurion shader engine, that artists and productions can use as well. Stay Tuned!

What clients has Immerse Studio worked with?

Our clients include Nike, Spotify, Microsoft, Disney, Lexus, Amazon, Paramount, Fox, Acura, Harvard, Goldenvoice, Tait, and many others across entertainment, technology, and consumer brands. We have also collaborated on projects for the Childish Gambino tour, Coachella, Live Design International, and Barak Ballet.

How much does projection mapping cost?

Project costs vary significantly based on the scale of the surface, number of projectors needed, content complexity, event duration, and whether the installation is temporary or permanent. We provide custom quotes for each project. Contact us at info@immerse.studio to discuss your project.
